Anybody hear something about a heat wave or Indian summer this week? Don’t be fooled in to thinking you don’t need to book a trip somewhere, this weather won’t last forever, October has arrived and Christmas items are being sold in the shops. I have a feeling however the news in travel this week may have you thinking about treating yourself to a holiday somewhere.

1. – Is Australia the funniest nation?

This week an expat forum posted some questions from potential visitors to Australia and the answers given by the Aussies working for the board. The sample below highlights their unique sense of humour, so I ask you, are they the wittiest nation in the world?

Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia ? I have never seen it rain on TV, how do the plants grow? ( UK ).

A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die.

Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? ( USA )

A: Depends how much you’ve been drinking.

Q:I want to walk from Perth to Sydney – can I follow the railroad tracks? ( Sweden )

A: Sure, it’s only three thousand miles, take lots of water.

Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia ? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane , Cairns , Townsville and Hervey Bay ? ( UK )

A: What did your last slave die of?

2. – Barcelona has the X Factor

According to a poll conducted by SkyScanner, the X Factor has prompted sales to the destinations chosen for the judges houses stage of the competition. Since it was announced last weekend Greece saw a 3% increase, Los Angeles saw a 10% increase in booked flights, Miami saw a 20% increase and Barcelona saw an increase of 30%, although some may suspect this was a direct result of relief that for the first time in eight years Louis Walsh was allowed to go somewhere other than Ireland. Now time to start picking your winner!

3. – Yet another badly behaved celebrity

This prompted a massive laugh out loud in the office. They just can’t seem to stop themselves, it’s war between the airlines and the celebs. It appears we forgot a major tip in our Celebrity Flight Etiquette guide and failed to mention that it is not acceptable to kiss your significant other on a plane. Actress Leisha Hailey wished she knew this before she went in for the smooch with her partner and was promptly removed from the Southwest Airlines flight.

4. – Eurostar shows off its artistic side

Following in the still warm footsteps of British Airways, Eurostar gave members and subscribers a first look at their new advert. Where British Airways opted for a more traditional and patriotic route, Eurostar went for more of a fantasy theme. Check out the video and let us know what you think of it?
