Not a great week for travel in the US as Hurricane Irene does her utmost to ruin homes/holidays. In the UK for many the rain has us all asking where the last-minute holidays are to less rainy climates. Needless to say, people are still travelling and providing us with amusing stories to get us through the week!
1. – Easyjet to Fuerteventura.
Holidays to the Canary Islands just get easier and easier especially since Easyjet announced this week a new route from London Gatwick to Fuerteventura. From March 2012 you can visit the Canary Island’s most modest island that much easier, and all in perfect time to escape the Olympics in Summer 2012.
2. – A fine example of what not to do when someone asks to search your luggage.
A tired and irate lady landed in Bermuda from London this week and was asked to wait whilst her luggage was searched by officials. Due to the fact this lady had been strip-searched on a number of occasions prior to this moment, this question was simply one too far and so save herself from another undignified experience she stripped there and then rather angrily. Sadly this resulted in pleading guilty to indecent exposure. However, is anybody else not concerned with the tiny detail of this woman being strip-searched on a number of occasions prior to this incident?
3. – What is the most annoying thing someone can do on an aeroplane.
Think, screaming child? A chatterbox? Poor hygiene? This week we posted 5 short videos of 5 different yet all equally annoying scenarios when flying and asked people what they thought was the most annoying. Have a watch and try to pick just one! Let us know your thoughts on our Facebook Page.
4. – Kate Winslet saves Richard Branson’s 90 year old mum from a burning inferno.
It really does sound like a poor Hollywood script. However, this is actually quite sad news as the Branson family did lose their incredible family island home on Necker Island, just days before Richard Branson’s daughter is due to get married there. Kate Winslet happened to be on holiday at the retreat with her kids and a random stroke of lightening set the house ablaze. Thankfully, nobody was hurt as Kate Winslet flexed her fire-fighting skills and Richard Branson ran naked to help those in need. All-in-all this scenario does raise of couple of questions; firstly what was Kate Winslet doing staying in the same house as Richard Branson’s mother, and secondly, why did he have to volunteer the information that he was naked. Did we really need to know?

This week’s travel tip of the week comes from @MyMelange and is definitely a good one considering all those increased baggage fees:
