Weekly Travel News

weekly-travel-news-angry-birds

Costa Cruises will be glad this week is over but we have enjoyed the warmer climate (prompting all of us to search for holidays), and the extra day we had. An eclectic mix of news this week with our final news story today sending is all in to a little cloud of dispair!

1. What’s round, red, got thick eyebrows and set for world domination?

Answer? Angry Birds. If, like me, you’ve experienced many a one-sided conversation as a result of the angry birds, this may not be the best news for you but the phenomenon of the online game has prompted the build of an angry birds theme park. In Sarkanniemi Adventure Park, Angry Birds Land will be an interactive entertainment world for online gamers to enjoy thrills and rides, as well as “magic places” to sit and game. So if you or your significant other want to hang out at Angry Birds Land, book your cheap flights from April 28!

2. London to Sydney in a day.

Plans are, apparently, underway to launch a non-stop London to Sydney service. No more refueling at Singapore or Bangkok, and no more 2/3 days stopovers, just 19 hours on a plane from London to Sydney. A major achievement! Well, considering it usually takes between 22 and 24 hours usually, I think I will still stick to the stopover.

3. We all secretly love the Olympics.

This time last year Brits were adamant they would be packing their bags and jetting off somewhere where the Olympics could not follow them. New research suggests Londoners in particular are 11% more likely to stick around and see what the Olympics has to offer. The one aspect that hasn’t changed in the surge of arrivals which will descend upon the UK during the summer!

4. Ever felt like a holiday is out of your budget?

The world’s most expensive cruise has been unvealed. If you find yourself with a spare $1.92 Million (for two people) then this is what you would get in return:

A helicopter taxi to collect you from your home and transport you to a London airport. A meal at the airport, including a sample of Beluga Caviar before stepping on to a private jet, complete with Michelin Star Chef to cook a 10 course taster meal for you. On arrival in Los Angeles you will spend 4 nights at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel before spending the next 124 days traveling the world (28 countries) by cruise. In no ordinary cabin, you will spend your 4 months at sea in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, 2 balcony and eating area royal suite. At the end of your cruise you will adjust to being back on dry land with 4 days in a 6 bedroom (really necessary) villa in Miami.

Seriously, if anyone has a spare ticket…….
