Weekly Travel News

Lots of people have been on holiday this week. How do we know? Well, a few MP’s weren’t all too keen to return from them. I think it is fair to say most of us would have preferred to be on holiday this week rather than witnessing the horrors of the London riots but here is what has been happening this week in travel.

1. – David Cameron is just like the rest of us in finding budget ways to travel. Like most of us, the cost of flying is quite expensive so we fly no-frills in order to make our hard-earned cash go further. This would have been great PR for you Mr Cameron if you hadn’t have splashed out around £10,000 on a villa for 2 weeks, you may as well have just flown in luxury.

2. – The 787 Dreamliner was revealed. The Japanese airline All Nippon Airways were the first to see the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner. It looks pretty much the same as any other airplane but Boeing assure us this lightweight plane promises 20% greater fuel efficiency.

3. – Rent-a-womb. This week a man from Ottawa showed the world his new baby. This would be the baby from a donated egg and surrogate mother he paid for in Mumbai because he was sick and tired of waiting for the right lady to come along and he simply wanted a baby for himself. This form of medical tourism is becoming increasingly popular and this has raised issues amongst certain groups concerned this new wave of travel is exploiting women in India.

Beat the Brochure Travel Tip of the Week

This week’s travel tip of the week comes from @meganboholife.

“Lie in order to avoid being ripped off. If someone asks you if this is your first time to a place, say no, it’s your fifth.” If they think you know the culture and area they are less likely to try and take your money.
