Weekly Travel News

Not the best of week’s for travel with protests continuing in Egypt and news Thomas Cook were just like everyone else and were having a few cash flow issues coming up to Christmas. However, here are this week’s travel stories that didn’t fill us with doom and gloom.

Let pushing in bother you no more.

This week Ryanair announced that from 10th January 2012 you will be able to reserve your seat on any Ryanair flight. The front two rows of the plane, as well as the seats over the wings and by the emergency exits will be available to reserve. No longer will you have to queue and endure annoying passengers who push-in, or try to, you can queue and board your flight in the calm, peaceful knowledge that your seat is waiting for you. However, before it all sounds too good to be true remember you will have to pay for the priviledge. 10 Euros per seat per journey to be exact. You didn’t think Ryanair had changed did you?

To infinity and beyond.

Toy Story has made its way to Hong Kong’s Disneyland Mega Park. Marking the first stage of the big expansion project as complete, Toy Story land turns the tables and allowing visitors a unique insight as to how favourites, Woody and BuzzLightyear felt in the stories, with everything in the park in giant size. Toy Story land is part of a major expansion project for Disneyland Hong Kong who hopes the project will increase visitor numbers and act as a major tourist draw to the area.

Break up and break down.

A woman from California was arrested by the FBI this week for a very poor attempt to seek revenge on her ex-boyfriend. Whereas many might spend a bit too much time disecting a Facebook page, a possible drunken text, or better still move on and find someone new, this lady was clearly very angry and upset of the break up. Obviously the best way to exact revenge on the man that dumped her was to call up United Airlines and imply that her ex was a potential terrorist and have him put in jail forever. Her bragging via text did not help the cause and she herself was arrested by the FBI. It has been said that she wanted revenge after her ex had ‘unfriended her on Facebook’.

An activity to set your heart alight.

Nicaragua is the home of the latest adventure tourism craze – Volcano Boarding. You climb up the volcano with a board (hard enough in my opinion), step in to your prisoner-inspired orange jumpsuit, goggles on and then bomb it down some ash. You should also know the last time Cerro Negro erupted was in 1999 so really not that long ago. For any takers, an Israeli women currently holds the speed record at 54mph, so you know what you need to beat.

Beat the Brochure Travel Tip of the week:

This week’s travel tips comes from @Laurie_Callsen

“When traveling, do relaxing/exploring things for the first & last part of trips. Save the hectic stuff for the middle.”

Have a great week!
