Introducing Sharm el- Sheikh

Sharm

The Red Sea’s number one tourist destination, Sharm el-Sheikh is an Egyptian city for the tourist looking to exploit the area’s hot weather and calm waters rather than the country’s ancient civilisation.

Why Sharm el-Sheikh?

Formerly a port, Sharm is a destination perfect for families and couples alike. Its natural underwater beauty, miles of pristine beaches, hot weather and relative accessibility to Cairo have made it one of the UK’s top 10 destinations for cheap holidays abroad.

The City of Peace

Sharm el-Sheikh is known as the ‘City of Peace’ because of the number of Middle East peace conferences that have been held in the city. As well as this, Sharm is rumoured to be the location in which outgoing President Hosni Mubarak resigned in 2011.

Diving

The bay’s beautiful underwater scenery has resulted in the resort becoming popular with divers and snorkelers the world over. Consisting of exotic fish, submerged gardens and beautiful reefs, the calm, warm waters of Sharm make it one of the best places to dive on the planet.

Weather

Sharm el-Sheikh’s average yearly temperature exceeds 30°C, while the daytime temperature between May and October isn’t expected to drop below 35°C. Temperatures in July and August regularly exceed 40°C, so while you’re guaranteed one hell of a tan, take care and regularly apply sun cream and drink plenty of water.

Evening

Most of Sharm el-Sheikh’s hotels are spectacular and all-inclusive, with five star entertainment in abundance. However if you wanted to venture out in the evening, nearby Naama Bay offers a variety of restaurants serving both local and western cuisine, as well as excellent bars, shops and a casino.

Ancient Egypt

Sharm el-Sheikh doesn’t offer much to the historical tourist itself but a myriad of Cairo-bound tours with numerous options are available throughout the resort. So if you wanted a day off the beach to visit the pyramids, you’ve got it.

So there you are, a brief introduction to Sharm el-Sheikh; one of the most popular cheap Egypt holidays.
